Nice big comfy room as I was upgraded. I checked the room facilities said 'bath' when booking, but on arrival it was just a shower. So they upgraded me to a huge room (8) with comfy bed, sofa, table/desk, chairs, big bathroom with bath. The hotel has a fantastic array of Tudor/late Mediaeval features, so if you like a creaky slightly wonky old timber-framed hotel, then this is right up your alley. There's a nice bar downstairs at the front, and the dinner I have was excellent. The location is right on the high street, close to lots of great restaurants, and two minutes walk from the Cathedral. Parking is free at the back of the hotel, and generally plenty of it available. Lots of wood panelling, a couple of suits of armour, characterful chairs. Very photogenic inside and out. Quiet glazing, despite facing a busy road. Handy space for refrigerating food items in the space between outer and inner glazing in cold weather! Lovely and warm, with responsive radiator in bedroom. Amazing 'guest lounge' next to my room.

Lovely building, great location, it felt very cosy. Old building so lots of quirks which we appreciated. Friendly staff and a good breakfast. We were opposite the cathedral, it's set fairly far back, but it was lovely to hear the bells in the morning, don't worry they weren't rung too early! There is also a decent sized car park which was free, entrance is tight but do able.

My first trip to England and I was looking to stay somewhere "old English", not something new and modern. This hotel/restaurant fit the bill. Entire building was like a walk back in time with enough modern touches to be comfortable. Service was outstanding, meals absolutely delicious. And to have all my meals added to the bill to pay at one time made the stay very easy. We had a family room which gave us plenty of sleeping options.

Fabulous location with parking. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was a decent size with everything we needed. Ensuite shower room small but very useable. It is a 600 year old establishment so it is what it is! We had the evening meal in the lovely Tudor restaurant and really enjoyed it. Breakfast was lovely too. I loved this old place, great to see it continues to hold its own !! Would certainly stay again and recommend.

We liked everything about the White Hart. It had a good friendly pub atmosphere, with a good local pub feel to it. The staff were very friendly and hard working but nice and relaxed too, making us welcome on arrival and chatting to us when in the pub on the evening. Our room had everything in it you needed and was clean and functional. Our lunch in the pub was nice and we enjoyed our breakfast on the morning we left. The White Hart is right in the centre of St Albans and is very well placed for the shops, market and also the Cathedral and gardens.

This place is so charming and conveniently close to things that might be the best for a short stay in St. Albans. It is literally across the street from the entrance to the beautiful, remarkable cathedral… a block away from the old city-center and nightlife… and two blocks from the Saturday morning Farmer’s Market and Crafts Fair that stretches for blocks and blocks. The hotel is a gem! First built in the late 1400’s and kept up to date – but still with a medieval feel and layout – and easy, free car parking on site. We’ll gladly stay here again!

Our room was large and comfortable with a huge bed, sweet little wardrobe and useful side-tables. We were situated on Holywell Road, which was a little busy with traffic, but there was some double glazing. A blackout blind helped to make the room nice and dark to sleep in. The shower was powerful and easy to use. Breakfast had a huge choice and was very tasty. I asked for oat milk, the White Hart were happy to provide. It's an old building, and has some quirks such as sloping floors, but we liked that. The wood panelling and tudor/medieval look is impressive, authentic and aesthetically pleasing.

Characterful and historic, this lovely building is a grand dame, quirky, asymmetric in every way, irregular and very charming. We enjoyed rooms facing the cathedral, on the busy road, super comfy bed, compact and dated bathroom. We loved the bars and residents lounge, further nooks and crannies of delight and atmosphere. Not your modern consistent hotel offering but an immersive historic experience which made for some very lovely memories.

Historic inn with guest rooms easy walk from St Albans centre. Stayed 1 night as a stop on a journey and I thought it was great value for money. Oodles of character with wonky floors and four poster bed, and perfectly comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was nice and freshly made, location was good with a couple of nice restaurants just across the road and the pub at the hotel was nice and comfortable. Didn't check out town centre but it would only be 5 mins walk away. Only thing is some window covering in the bathroom would have been good so as not to be accidentally flashing the car park when having a shower :)

Love St Albans - the Cathedral is magnificent and is just across the road and up a lane from the White Hart Hotel, which is also central to shops and restaurants. We first stayed at the White Hart nearly 30 years ago while on our honeymoon and it hasn't really changed at all, which is great since it is a well-maintained old building with lots of history. The family room was a good size for 3 (adult daughter travelling with us this time), but we found it a bit difficult getting our suitcases up all the stairs. Breakfast was great and the staff were friendly.
